I grew up on a suburban street where cookie-cutter houses seemed to stretch into infinity, and from an early age I learned to find adventure in the mundane. My videos, multimedia projects and interventions evoke a strong sense of place and often focus on extracting the fantastic, occult and ecstatic from things long forgotten or thrown away.

Laura Chipley is a New York-based artist and filmmaker. She holds an undergraduate degree in Film and Electronic Media from Bard College and is currently pursuing an M.F.A. in Integrated Media Arts at Hunter College.

Her videos have been screened in venues such as Collective Unconscious, Fusion Arts, and Monkey Town as well as in the New York/Avignon Film Festival and at the CUNY/SVA Symposium on Propaganda. Her multimedia installations have been exhibited at Phillips de Pury, the Dabora Gallery, the Chocolate Factory and in the Electronic Social Club and EyeSpeak group exhibitions at the Black Box Gallery.
